Netflix error UI-800-3 on a TV: refresh the device before changing the network

Separate plain UI-800-3 from a longer code, refresh the TV app in Netflix's order, and stop at the device-specific or official support path if it returns.

Quick answer

Read the entire code first. If it is exactly UI-800-3, power-cycle the TV or streaming device, then restart the home network, sign out, and restore only connection settings you previously customized. A code with numbers in parentheses needs its own Netflix article.

The characters after UI-800-3 decide which instructions apply. If the TV shows only UI-800-3, Netflix says stored information needs refreshing or a network problem stopped the app from opening. If the screen adds numbers in parentheses—such as UI-800-3 (123456)—write down the complete code and search Netflix Help for that exact version instead.

Do not factory-reset the TV or erase router settings as a first move. The plain-code procedure starts with a full device power cycle and changes one boundary at a time.

Confirm that this is the plain code

Photograph or transcribe the error before closing it. Record the TV or streaming-device model and the time. Then choose the correct branch:

  • Only UI-800-3 appears: continue with the ordered refresh below.
  • UI-800-3 includes a parenthetical number: stop here and use Netflix’s exact-code search. Those extra digits can lead to different steps.
  • Another app also cannot get online: treat the connection as a broader device or home-network problem, not only stale Netflix data.

This distinction keeps a network outage from being mistaken for an account problem and prevents device-specific variants from being flattened into one generic reset.

Refresh the viewing device without erasing it

Netflix’s first step is more complete than switching the TV off with its remote:

  1. Unplug the TV or TV-connected device from power.
  2. Press its physical power button once and wait one minute. If that is not practical, leave it unplugged for three minutes instead.
  3. Reconnect power, start the device, and open Netflix.
  4. Try to start a title, not merely reach the Netflix home screen.

Stop if playback begins and continues past the initial loading screen. That is the completion check. Reaching the profile picker alone does not prove that UI-800-3 is gone.

Move to the network only if the code returns

Turn off the viewing device. Unplug both the modem and router, wait 30 seconds, and reconnect them. Netflix says to wait at least one minute before turning the viewing device back on; some network equipment takes longer to restore internet service.

Watch the modem and router until their normal online indicators return. Then open Netflix and play the same title. If every household device remains offline, stop repeating Netflix steps and use the internet provider’s outage or equipment-support path.

Preserve the time of the test and whether other apps or devices worked. Those details tell support whether UI-800-3 followed a local app refresh or a network interruption.

Sign out to replace the Netflix session

If the network is online but UI-800-3 remains, use Netflix’s own sign-out route. From the Netflix home screen, press Back to reach the menu. Depending on the layout, open the profile icon or the bottom of the left menu, then choose Get Help > Sign out > Yes.

From an error screen, More Details > Sign out or Reset may be available. Sign back into the intended Netflix account and retest. Save the profile or account email you used, but never store the password or share a sign-in code with a support contact.

Undo only connection settings you changed

The last general branch is for a device whose connection was customized. Return a manual DNS setting, VPN, proxy, or custom modem configuration to its default only if you know it was changed. Netflix directs users who cannot identify the correct default to the device manufacturer.

Do not press a router’s recessed factory-reset button. A power restart and a factory reset are different actions; the latter can erase the ISP and Wi-Fi configuration.

If plain UI-800-3 survives the ordered steps, open Netflix Help’s device section for the exact TV, Fire TV, set-top box, or other player. Keep the full error photo, device model, software version, sign-out result, network restart time, and result from another app. The issue is resolved only when a title plays normally without the code; otherwise use Contact Us in the official Netflix Help Center with that evidence.
