For a manually added US bank account, check the bank statement for Venmo's small deposits and withdrawals after 1–3 business days. Use Me → Wallet → the Unconfirmed bank → Verify. If entries are missing or rejected, check the bank details and status before restarting.
Check the bank account’s status and statement entries before entering more amounts. Manual bank verification is separate from a pending person-to-person payment or a frozen Venmo account. Start with the bank you added, not a payment you sent to someone.
Find the verification entries, not a balance change
For a US bank added manually with routing and account numbers, Venmo describes two small deposits and two withdrawals, each under $1. They normally appear as separate statement entries within 1–3 business days and offset one another. A balance that ends where it started does not prove the entries never arrived. Venmo also advises keeping at least $2 in the account to avoid overdraft or other bank fees.
Open the bank’s own transaction history and compare the account ending digits with the bank selected in Venmo. Read the individual entries rather than adding them into one total. Keep the date you added the account so you can explain which verification attempt you are checking.
In Venmo, open Me → Wallet, select the bank marked Unconfirmed, choose Verify, enter the requested microtransfer amounts in the two fields, and submit. Follow the current screen’s labels. Revisit that bank afterward to confirm the verification completed; receiving deposits alone does not complete the app step.
If the amounts are missing or rejected
If three business days have passed without entries, Venmo says the banking information may have been entered incorrectly. Confirm the routing and account numbers with your bank before trying again. Do not replace an account number with a debit-card number or guess a missing digit.
For amounts that are visible but rejected, stop cycling through guesses. Check that you selected the intended bank and the correct verification attempt. Record the exact error and ask Venmo Support to review the mismatch. A community report that support fixed another person’s account does not guarantee the same outcome or timing for yours.
Venmo permits restarting an old, unfinished manual verification by removing the unverified bank and adding it again with the correct banking details. That issues a new set of microtransfers. Use that path when appropriate to the old attempt, rather than repeatedly restarting a recent request. If a transfer is already involved or you are unsure which attempt is active, ask support before changing the linked bank. Verification itself is not a test payment to a stranger.
An Invalid bank needs a different check
An Invalid status can reflect incorrect numbers, an account the bank cannot locate, ACH restrictions, limits, or held funds. Ask the bank to confirm both the numbers and whether the account can accept the required electronic transactions. Venmo also says it sends an email about the invalid status.
If the numbers were wrong, correct them through the official remove-and-add process. A temporary restriction that the bank has lifted may sometimes allow Venmo Support to revalidate the account. Venmo says this is uncommon; if the underlying restriction remains, a different eligible bank or card may be needed. Do not treat another verification attempt as a way around a bank restriction.
Already sent money using incorrect bank details? Contact the bank and Venmo about that specific transfer. Successful verification later is not evidence that an earlier transfer was recovered, and Venmo does not guarantee recovery of funds sent with incorrect information.
Use the in-app support route safely
Go to Me → Settings → Get Help → Chat With Us and request an agent. Have the bank’s name, limited ending digits, the date you added it, whether the entries appeared, and the exact error ready. Let the authenticated support flow tell you what additional information is necessary. If you cannot use the app, open Venmo’s official Contact Us page for its current alternatives.
Venmo says its staff will not contact you to ask for your account password or verification code. Do not send online-banking credentials, one-time codes, or an unredacted statement to a caller or social-media reply offering to “verify” the account. A person asking you to move money as a verification test is not the manual microtransfer procedure described here.
The completion check is narrow: the intended bank has successfully finished verification in Venmo. It does not confirm a separate payment cleared, lift a frozen account, or establish that an unrelated withdrawal arrived.
