How to cancel YouTube Premium and verify the final billing date

Cancel YouTube Premium from the billing platform that owns the membership, confirm the end date, and handle an iPhone, Google Play, or partner-billed plan correctly.

Quick answer

Open YouTube Purchases and memberships, identify who bills the plan, and use Deactivate then Continue to cancel when Google owns it. Save the confirmation and access-through date; deleting the app or pausing is not cancellation.

Cancel from the company shown as the billing provider, not by deleting YouTube. Start in YouTube under your profile, Purchases and memberships, and open the active Premium membership. Record the renewal date before changing anything so you can tell whether another charge is already pending.

Identify who controls the subscription

A Google-billed membership provides the cancel controls in YouTube. An iPhone purchase may direct you to Apple subscriptions, while a mobile carrier or another partner may require that provider’s account portal. The card statement and membership detail help identify the owner. Do not open a second membership to “replace” one you cannot find.

For a Google-billed plan, choose Deactivate, then Continue to cancel, select a reason if requested, and confirm. YouTube may also offer Pause instead. Pausing preserves a future restart date and is not the same as ending renewal, so read the final button carefully.

Confirm the cancellation actually finished

Return to Purchases and memberships. A completed cancellation should show an access-through date rather than a next renewal. Keep the confirmation email or a screenshot that includes the membership name and date, but hide your email, payment method, and order number before sharing it.

Premium benefits normally continue through the paid period. Immediate loss of benefits, a refund, and stopping the next renewal are different outcomes. Do not dispute a valid charge merely because access remains active after cancellation.

If the button is missing or a charge follows

Check every Google account used on the device and compare the receipt’s account and billing provider. Family members cannot cancel the family manager’s plan from their own profile. If the renewal processed before cancellation, review YouTube’s refund rules from the same help system; cancellation alone does not promise a refund.

Contact the listed billing provider with the receipt date, amount, account, and cancellation confirmation. Never send a password or verification code. The task is complete when the membership page displays the ending date and no future renewal, not when the app is removed.
