Spotify canceled but still charged: let the account status explain the charge

Use the Payment line under Your plan to tell a late cancellation from the wrong Spotify account, an incomplete cancellation, or billing controlled by a partner.

Quick answer

Open your Spotify account page and read Payment under Your plan. A switch-to-Free date confirms cancellation, a next-payment date means it did not finish, Spotify Free can point to another charged account, and a named partner controls its own billing.

A charge after you pressed cancel can mean four different things. Do not cancel every Spotify login you can find. Sign in on the web, open the account page, and scroll to Payment under Your plan. The text there determines who owns the problem and whether cancellation actually completed.

Match the account status to the correct branch

Use Spotify’s current status table rather than relying on whether Premium still plays:

What the account page shows What it means
Spotify Free That account is not being charged; the statement likely belongs to another Spotify login
A date when the next payment is due Cancellation did not finish
A date when the account will switch to Spotify Free Cancellation succeeded, probably after the latest payment had already processed
A partner company under Payment The phone, internet, or other partner manages the billing

Premium access continuing until the switch-to-Free date is normal and does not show that another renewal is scheduled.

If the cancellation did not finish

When a future payment date remains, repeat the cancellation from the charged account and continue until Spotify displays the confirmation message. Save the resulting switch-to-Free date and confirmation email. An offer to change plans or a page asking why you are leaving is not the final confirmation.

Do not delete the account while the billing status is unresolved. The account page, receipt history, and username are the evidence needed to find the charge.

If this login says Spotify Free

Compare the statement charge with Spotify receipt emails. Try the sign-in methods and email addresses you have actually used, including Apple, Google, Facebook, or a username login. A second account can hold Premium while the familiar account remains Free.

For each account you check, record the username or profile identifier and the plan status without saving passwords. Stop when the receipt and charged plan point to the same account. Creating a new account does not affect the billed one.

If cancellation succeeded after the payment

A switch-to-Free date means Spotify recognizes the cancellation and says you should not be charged again. Compare the transaction time with the cancellation confirmation. If payment processed first, cancellation normally ends the following renewal while Premium remains available through the paid period.

A refund is a separate decision; the switch date alone does not promise one. Keep the charge date and amount, Spotify receipt, cancellation confirmation, and switch-to-Free date if you ask Spotify about eligibility.

If a partner owns the plan

When Payment names a phone company, internet provider, or another partner, use the contact details shown on the account page. Ask that company to confirm the final billed period and whether renewal is off. Spotify cannot replace the partner’s billing record.

Resolution is visible when the correct charged account shows a switch-to-Free date with no future payment, or the billing partner provides equivalent cancellation confirmation. If the statement charge still cannot be matched, contact Spotify through its official support route with the date, amount, receipt, and usernames checked. Share only the last four card digits if the secure support form asks; never disclose the full card number, password, or one-time code.
